Copyright of pages on the Monachos.net web site

All pages on the Monachos.net web site are copyright © Monachos.net through the site's owner and operator, M.C. Steenberg. All rights reserved ® by the copyright holder: no part of the Monachos.net website may be reproduced in whole or in part, by any form whatsoever, without the previously obtained, written permission of the copyright holder. This includes posts in the Monachos.net Discussion Community message forum, which become copyright Monachos.net on posting and the rights for reproduction of which rest with the web site, rather than with the poster; and similarly all content in the Monachos Patristics Wiki and its sub-areas.

Copyright of article content

The content of articles and documents is copyright Monachos.net, as above, unless otherwise indicated on the article / document itself. Such indication will be the case, for example, when a given text has been published on Monachos.net with the permission of its author, editor, or otherwise copyright owner. In these cases, the page as it appears on this web site is copyright Monachos.net, but the content of the document remains copyright to the copyright holder. In such instances, where a specific page contains content that is in whole or in part copyright a party other than Monachos.net, this is expressly indicated by a special copyright section at the bottom of the page in question. Such a section looks like this (click the notice to expand):

SAMPLE ONLY: This document is used with permission from A.N. Onymous, from his A Text Worth Remembering (1920), in abbreviated form as compiled by A.N. Other (2004). In this on-line Monachos.net Library edition, scriptural and patristic source text references have been updated to modern abbreviation and citation conventions, and electronic links provided where possible. Copyright for the editorial work done by Mr Onymous and Mr Other rest with those individuals; editorial changes made by Monachos.net, and the publication format as it appears on this page, are copyright Monachos.net.

Academic quotations

Quotations from Monachos.net documents in academic journals, papers and seminars are permitted according to standard academic Acceptable Use Policies (which generally allow no more than 5% of an article's content to be quoted or otherwise reproduced). Patristic source texts and any documents whose contents are out of copyright and in the Public Domain are exempt from this restriction, and the text of such documents can be quoted in fuller degree.

Referencing: When referring to Monachos.net articles in notes or bibliographies, references will depend on whether or the document indicates a specific date of on-line publication (if it does, this will normally be indicated in grey font at the top of the page, beneath the title). If no publication date is provided, e.g. on a page such as this copyright statement, the standard bibliographic convention of citing a 'retrieved on' date (equivalent to the date you read and quoted the text from the page) is customary.
