Screen shot of colour scheme changes for Great LentAstute and not-so-astute eyes alike will have noticed that the colour scheme of Monachos.net has changed from its usual golds and browns to a darker set of purples and burgundies. This is to mark out the season of Great Lent, in which the liturgical colours used in Orthodox temples are generally darker, ranging from purples to dark reds to black.

We have altered the colours of Monachos.net accordingly, both on the main site and in the Discussion Community. We will return to our more customary colours at the conclusion of the Fast.

In the meantime, don't forget to explore our extensive resources for Great Lent. Our focus on Orthodoxy through patristic, liturgical and monastic study provides us with a whole host of materials at your disposal during the Fast, including service texts, patristic commentaries, hymns, prayers, pastoral reflections, reading plans, calendars, and much more.
