I am not aware that modern astronomers have explained how a star could appear to the Magi, lead them day and night from east to west, apparently went out of sight whilst the Magi were in Jerusalem, then appeared to them again but now went due north for 143 kilometres to Bethlehem and stopped over the place where Jesus was. I'll stick with St John Chrysostom and the other Holy Fathers, the iconography and service texts of the Church.
