Hello friends,

I am wondering if this post can be followed by some examples of the Orthodox faithful "taking things into their own hands," as it were.  I have heard stories in the past about unfaithful priests returning to their parishes to find the locks changed, or actual mobs chasing men down to ordain them against their will.  I always find these stories interesting from an ecclesiological perspective.  If anyone has links to or copies of such stories, they would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Hmm, with unfaithful priests probably plenty of examples. Happens in Greece definately. Never heard of chasing a layman to ordain him, but many priests and Bishops that never wanted to be. I believe St. Gregory Nazianzen is one example. One of the priests on this forum has said he ran away from being ordained but he could not escape it. Perhaps he can shed some light on this.
