I have a question; when a bishop is serving a Liturgy on a cross feast when "Before Thy Cross" replaces "Holy God", does the dialogue between the Bishop and the chanters follow this pattern in Slavic Churches, or is something else done?
Hierarch: Lord, Lord, look down from heaven, and visit this vineyard which Thy right hand has planted, and establish it! Before Thy Cross.
Chanting by people: Before Thy Cross.
Hierarch: We bow down and worship, O Master.
Chanting by people: We bow down and worship, O Master.
Hierarch: And Thy holy Resurrection we glorify.
Chanting by people: And Thy holy Resurrection we glorify!
And as a side question, why do I often hear the phrase "Through the prayers of our Holy Masters, O Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us [and save us]" with Masters replacing Fathers at hierarchical services? Why would this actually change?
