Greetings to all,

I don´t find a thread for 2016 introductions, so am taking the liberty of writing a separate one to reintroduce myself following a long silence.

After retiring in January and moving from Cyprus to the south of Spain, I embarked in July on a semi-contemplative life in my home, daily praying The Hours, the Jesus Prayer and following a course of reading focused for now on the Philokalia.

I am also examining the possibility of one day taking vows as a solitary monk or even entering a monastery.

I have joined the Iglesia Ortodoxa Española, an autochthonous church that, for reasons of historical anomaly, is under the authority of the Patriarch of Serbia. In October, I expect to meet with Bishop Luka, who heads the diocese of France and Western Europe, to discuss my vocation.

I look forward to much conversation, and welcome your prayers.

May God enlighten you in discerning your calling brother.

While in Cyprus, did you get a chance to visit the monasteries?

Thank you, Panayoti.
Yes, I have visited Kikkos and Macheras several times, and have stayed at the latter on retreat a number of occasions. I hope to be visiting there again in November.

Cyprus has wonderful monasteries. My late spiritual father was abbot of Macheras in the 1950s. I particularly like St George's near Pyrgou, Troodhitissa in the Troodhos Mountains, and, of course, Stavrovouni.

Greetings, Andreas. I only just now saw your note.
I shall be spending a few days at Machairas in November.
