I'm having trouble with a few Christological issues.

1. In what way did Jesus have a human nature, soul, will, and energy, and likewise a divine soul (the Logos), nature, will, and energy, without being two persons? That is to say, what is the ground of the union of the natures into the Person?

2. When Jesus died, what was the relation of His divine nature and human nature? When He was dead, what was His body?

Thanks for the help.

1. Don't think of Christ as two distinct entities- divine and human- beside each other. Rather Christ is the One pre-eternal Word of God, Who then takes on the fullness of humanity apart from sinfullness. In other words Christ is one Person- He is still the pre-eternal Word. And the pre-eternal Word is the ground of the incarnation and union of natures.

2. Christ died to trample down death. In so doing He fully and really accepted death. But death instead of destroying Him, was itself destroyed in its essential power, since Christ is life giving God. For this reason His body arose from the dead, since in His human nature, death was trampled down. But as Christ is both God & man, we too are offered life, since by His adoption of human nature, we too are enabled to share in His life.

In Christ-

Hello Seraphim,

There are two threads I found that may help to answer your question, if not, try searching in the "Christology" area of the discussion board.

Hope that these help you!
