St kavasilas said that Theotokos achieved by her own where everyone else failed,that is to become the chosen mother of God.

Fr David what do you mean "by design"?

Fr David can answer for himself, but it seems that what he says echoes what St Nicholas Cabasilas says in his Homily on the Annunciation, especially at paragraph 4.

happen to someone like me?" But she did not, she was humble and obedient
and in that she was an active part of her deification. And we venerate her Holiness. And pray to her.
