Metropolitan Methodios of Boston has apparently been discussing the establishment of an Athonite monastery in the Boston/New England area by Fr. Iakovos of Simonopetra:

Fr. Iakovos was one of the main Athonite fathers interviewed on the recent 60-minutes program about Mt. Athos. Some photos of Met Methodios' visit to Simonopetra in June of this year can be seen here:

Some videos of him serving at Simonopetra can be found on YouTube by searching "Metropolitan Methodios Simonopetra".

It would be very good to see the foundation of an Athonite monastery in the Boston/New England area which appears to be without any monasteries of any Orthodox jurisdiction (aside from the Old Calendarist HTM in Brookline). The GOA's only seminary is located in Brookline, MA; and would be extremely valuable to have a traditional monastery located not far from the seminary. Simonopetra is in the spiritual heritage of Elder Aimilianos, in whose heritage are also nuns who arrived fairly recently from Greece and are currently under the jurisdiction of ROCOR:

Thanks for sharing this! The monastics of Elder Aemelianos have a joyful spirit.
(One thing I like about the Old Calendrist HTM is that you can find beautifully chanted paraclisis services on youtube in English, while still sounding authentically Byzantine)
