Beginning Lent with the prodigal son

I just want to wish everyone a blessed Sunday of the prodigal son...... this day always feels like the real beginning of lent to me, even though the actual fast doesn't start for a few more weeks. Something about the theme of this day is perfect for the lenten "mood."

I agree, Martin. I always wait for the Sunday of the Prodigal Son with extra anticipation. I think I've liked the story since I was a little kid, and it gets better (deeper) the older I get. Each year it seems to have more to say.

I know that very many people feel as Martin and Gregory do about the Sunday of the Prodigal Son. Perhaps this common sentiment is witness to the great power of this parable in speaking of true repentance in so personal a manner.

It is certainly one passage of Scripture that I also treasure very greatly.
