I would be grateful for recommendations concerning the best published works on the Orthodox Christology (preferably in English but French and Russian texts are also welcomed.) I am already familiar with the two basic books by Vladimir Lossky but, in my opinion, they are not exactly for beginners.
Thank you kindly,

Dearest to Christ Mariusz,
Peace and blessings be with you:
Fr. John Meyendorff's Christ in Eastern Christian Thought is a good book to begin with I believe. Though I personally don't recommend beginning with secondary sources in the first place.

Dear Mariusz,
A good book with which to make a beginning is Fr J.A. McGuckin's Cyril of Alexandria and the Christological Controversy. It is an adept historical study of the Christological disputes of the fourth century, focussing on the persons of Cyril and Nestorius, but also dealing far more broadly. Additionally, it is a deeply source-text orientated volume: the pages are littered with good quotations, and full texts are translated at the book's end (letters by Nestorius, works of Cyril, correspondence with John, etc.).
For more good news, it's recently gone down in price from c. £100 to £25, thanks to a new paperback priting by St Vladimir's Seminary Press.

Archbishop Dmitri wrote The Doctrines of Christ: A Layman's Guide to Christology. It is simple and straightforward.

Dear Mariusz,
You can get copies of St. Cyril's works by following this linK:

There is also a link to on-line editions at:

as well, of course, as the links and texts which Matthew kindly provides on this site.

One of the best of the contemporary Orthodox theologians that writes about Christology, is the late Father John Romanides (+2001). Unbelievably profound!!!
