Greetings friends,

Today's Gospel really pierced me to the heart. In particular I am pierced by the fact that the ruler of the synagogue was indignant with Jesus. The ruler of the synagogue was indignant with God? How can this be?! This is the first time in my Christian life that this Gospel has pierced me as such. Not only that, but the Lord Jesus Christ had adversaries?! Again, first time being pierced by these words.

But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation Luke 13:14

and

And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame

Adversaries?

Has anyone else been pierced by the fact that the ruler of the synagogue was indignant with Jesus and that He had adversaries?

In Christ

If i remember correctly Christ did most healings on the Sabbath and later says Sabbath was made for man not the other way around. I think he meant to say we are not meant to be made slaves to the Sabbath. Maybe it was bad translations or too strong a word chosen for this translation but the Jewish leaders were not happy with God doing and teaching His ways as it doesn't fit to the their customs and religion and were always against Him and trying to find things wrong with which to accuse Him.
