My email is pkipros@aol.com ....Also I am after any writings of Saints or any Orthodox teachings on instructions or anything to those in authority (Police Officers-those in law enforcement) A forensic or police officer is how I see my future so if anyone could help would be great.thank you =)

Dear Peter,

If you receive an answer privately, please share it with the group. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is curious to know this!

Look up Paul Florensky. I think thats his name, the spelling is my geuss. Matyred under the communists. Such an important scientist, the communist authorities allowed him to live for a long time and even wear his rassa and cross. I think he was a chemist. He wrote a really deep but simple book called "Ikonostasis". Of course, he wrote many books, but I have only read that one. His last book it was, I think. I love it. I love him too.

I will search for some net resources for you. Thanks for reminding me of him.

Glory to God for everything forever.

The Orthodox Church does not have as formal a list of "patron saints" as does the Roman Catholic church. However, we, of course, do call upon particular saints to intercede on our behalf in particular situations. Perhaps a good place to start is the Physician Saints, or perhaps the warrior-saints such as St George, St Theodore the Commander, St Menas, etc. I'll look into it further.

The Great Martyr and Healer saint Panteleimon was a physician.

The writer of the third Synoptic Gospel, and the Acts of the Apostles might be fitting; St. Luke the Physician

St. Luke Archbishop of Simferopol (+1961) was a surgeon who later became a priest and bishop, confessing Christ during the years of the Communists in Russia. He was also ever a scientist and researcher and published over thirty books/articles, if I'm not mistaken, did dissections for his research, looked at slides under the microscope, etc. Therefore he did many of the jobs that a forensic pathologist does. He continues to perform very many incredible miracles throughout the world, and I think I even read one where he helped a pathologist. May he pray for all of us!
