Could anyone lead me to information on the violance at the early councils? Such as the aledged bishop that stomped another bishop's head till he died. Or the carving in two of those that beleaved that Christ had two natures.
I remember reading something about violance and it came up in a CD I was listening to and I can't find it again to get the particulares.
Thanks for the help.

The only thing I have ever heard of was how St Nicholas struck the face of Arius at the First Ecumenical Council.
About,"the aledged bishop that stomped another bishop's head till he died. Or the carving in two of those that beleaved that Christ had two natures." I think what you have here may be a garbled version of a recent parish council meeting.

Father Raphael:
I didn't realize that you were familiar with parish council meetings of the Greek Archdiocese.

There were some skirmishes around the time of the 2nd Ecumenical Council, which would be covered to some extent in a book like Fr. John McGuckin's St. Gregory of Nazianzus: An Intellectual Biography. Also, If I recall correctly, Derwas Chitty's The Desert, A City goes into some of the violence associated with some doctrinal issues (Origenism, Monophysitism, etc.), and I'm sure some of this happened at Councils. That's all I can think of off of the top of my head, but then again I think that both of those books are good and profitable regardless of there relevance to this particular issue http://www.monachos.net/mb/clipart/happy.gif
