Hello all,

I am new here and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find an icon of Melchizedek? I have not had much luck on the internet.

Peace,
David

David,

Here's another, modeled after a Russian icon. It's on the deacon door of the iconostasis in a church in NC. I hope I uploaded it right ;o)

Dear Beloved of the Lord, Elizabeth

Your shot of Melchizedek on the Deacons's Door came out nicely;

Would you mind also sending us some of your work?

Unfortunately I had a computer disaster last week and lost some of my jpegs. This one of the Communion of the Apostles is reversed so you have to use your imagination on the inscription.......I'm technically challenged, so this might not come through at all :o)

Well, I couldn't find The Communion of the Apostles; but then, I'm not a computer whiz either.
But the Deacon's Door Melchizadek is very nice and clear as sent; and the icon is well done, although I don't recognize that style.

I hope you get your problems worked out and can send us some you have written.

I've been working on my problems for years, and right now I'd say the chances are slim to none:o) I will try to upload some more images. I modeled St. Melchizedek after one done by Father Vyacheslav for St. Daniels Monastery in Russia. The style is 14th-15th C Novgorod/Pskov. http://www.monachos.net/mb/messages/4229/8093.jpg

These (the Trinity & the Communion) came through, Elizabth (meaning I could open them), and they look strong and prayerful (done with prayer); but it is difficult to photograph many icons -- the flesh colours do not lend to it.

Being large, I suppose made the Melchizedek available for photography. It is beautiful, Elizabeth, and shows the Holy Spirit in your work. But I did not recognize it as Novgorod; shows my dumbness.

I pray for discernment in your icon writing.

Thank you Richard. Don't worry about not recognizing the style. Today we have so many wonderful examples to learn from that work tends to become a little more eclectic. So I would not say my icon is purely in the Novgorod style, but is more of a derivative of that school. In the past iconography schools developed where iconographers worked in more isolation so there was not quite so much cross pollination and influence as there is today.

Please do pray for me. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the awesomeness of what I'm doing. I pray that I may not be found presumptuous or unworthy or lose the sweetness of this calling.
