Depression and OCD

Please, I need prayer and intercession. I have OCD -- harming thoughts and major depression. I have been fighting these thoughts that come unbidden for about two years now. I am an Orthodox Christian. Also, my prayer life is weak and needs to be strengthened.

I am unmarried and wonder if I am being called to a monastic life, please also pray for God's will to be revealed in my life.

After recently reading a most beautiful book: "Eldress Rachel - Consoler of Suffering Hearts" by Archpriest Sergei Lebedev, when I'm suffering - whether it's with my health or otherwise - I have begun to ask Eldress Rachel to pray for me, and help me and I truly believe she does. Perhaps ask her too for her prayers before Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

I had this problem myself, not exactly depression but connect to it. If you not did this yet you must find a doctor and also a Therapist.

Dear Sister-in-Christ Magdalene,

Please find a physician who will listen to you. Seek help. It is there. A year ago I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety disorder. I am also OCD. It took two doctor's to convince me of the problem and to get me on meds and to see a counselor. I'm glad I did. All is manageable now.
