I am in Australia and I cant really leave. I would like to study Orthodox Theology like a person would at seminary, but we dont have any scools here that i can go to. Does anyone know if any schools in The U.S. offer courses by correspondence through the mail or something like that? I will do my own investigation, but I dont know much about the schools in America and Im hoping some of my friends here can give me some clues.

Dear Daniel,
You may wish to look toward the St Athanasius Academy of Orthodox Theology, situated in California, USA and run by the Antiochian Archdiocese in that country.
If memory serves, they may offer a set of correspondence courses in various subjects.

Hi Daniel, Maybe you could try http://www.holytrinitymission.org/index.php
. I don't know if the courses are up and running or if they are what you
are looking for.
From the web site:-
"The Holy Trinity Theological School on the Internet has been created to
assist and extend the activities of the Holy Trinity Seminary in
Jordanville, N.Y., USA.
The selection of study materials and their publication on the Internet is
managed by Bishop Alexander (Mileant) of Buenos Aires and South America, who
himself graduated from the Holy Trinity Seminary in 1967."
"... Among the main co-workers of this Theological Extension School we
expect to see teachers from the Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, as
well as its graduates - Bachelors of Divinity. In addition, in order to
expand the spiritual educational activities of this site we wish to attract
all those religious and educated Orthodox peolpe who cherish their faith and
wish to assist in the expansion and flourishing of the Orthodox faith."
"... This site is intended for those who, for one reason or another cannot
attend a theological school ..."
"...Our study program is based on the 5-year curriculum of the Holy Trinity
Seminary in Jordanville. Whenever possible we do translate into electronic
format the textbooks used by that Seminary."

Dear Daniel,
In response to your question there is a theological school in Australia. It is Saint Andrews Greek Orthodox Theological College with lessons being taught in English. This theological college is for all Orthodox people regardless of jurisdiction. The Russian Orthodox Church Abroad and the other Orthodox jurisdictions are close to reunification with only minor issues left. A number of other Russian Orthodox have been permitted to attend this college so it may be of interest to you.

Thr Antiochian Archdiocese of North America has a program called the Saint Stephen's Certificate Program in Applied Orthodox Theology. It is a 3-year, directed-reading certificate program based on the cohort concept. That is, all students who enter in a given Fall semester (October) matriculate through the program together. Correspondence with the professor mentors is largely through email, mail, and phone. There is also a moderated online discussion list for all currently-enrolled students. Three weeks of residence are also required in order to earn the certificate, one week in August or September at the end of each year of study. Although not strictly required, an undergraduate degree is a typical prerequisite for entrance into this graduate-level program. For advanced scholarship, an undergraduate degree and successful completion of this program (including the residency) are the basic requirements for entrance into the Master of Arts program by the same name. The MA is awarded by the Balamand University. We have students from all over the world.
