Hello all.
I don't know if I mentioned it here as of yet, but my Baptism will be next Sunday, the 29th. I just wanted to ask you all to forgive me if I've offended anyone in any way whatsoever, and to humbly request your kind prayers during this week. My name will be Photini.
Also my family members that live nearby will be attending the service....this will be their first experience in the Orthodox Church, so please remember them also.
I am so grateful for all the support that each of you has shown to me....especially the good Father Averky who has been most patient with me.

Dear Heather
May the Holy Spirit protect you for the rest of your life.
Orthodoxy is a wonderful forfillment of the heart, the very place where the love of God begins.
Be stead-fast and diligent in your faith.
The Golden rule:work on your relationship with God.
Step 1: Read and grasp the Bible as if your life depends on it (as a figure of speach...it really does)
Step 2: Be diligent in prayer ( which with children is quite difficult ... ask me I have five)
Step3: Find a Spiritual Father who will constantly yell at you and then give you the strength and understanding as to why you must carry a cross
Step 4: Go to Mass ( even with the kids constantly wiggling)
Step 5: Be happy for the sacrament that you are about to receive, it is something that will change your life for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I have left anything out an these few moments my kids were so kind to give the internet, I apologizes. Father Averky, I open the page to you.
God Bless you Heather.!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the orchid of faith of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
My prayers are with you and if possible please scan me a picture over the web to my personal e-mail. I would love to show it to my children so the happiness and love of Our Lord can spread.
Sincerely,
Dianne

Thank you Dianne.
I will do my best to scan a picture. I haven't quite mastered this "all-in-one" printer thing. I don't get along very well with new gadgets and things...At work I'm always making the computer go down and have to reboot.

Dear Heather,
My name is Johanna and I'm fairly new to this discussion community, but I wanted you to know that I have been praying for you and your family this week and will continue to do so. I know the day of my Chrismation into the Orthodox Church almost five months ago was the most significant day in my life. I'm sure your Baptism on Sunday will be a day for you that will be incredibly blessed. My prayers are with you. May God bless you.
In Christ,
Johanna

Dear Johanna and all,
Thank you. Tomorrow (Sat) I will be on a quest to find something big enough to be baptised (fully-immersed) in, as my Church does not have any such thing. Originally I was thinking of like one of those big storage bins...but I can't find one quite big enough. I will be up in the morning and heading to the tractor supply store...I think they might have something that will suffice. I know this all sounds pretty funny...does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could go out looking for? :o)
with much love,
heather

Dear Heather,
Our small Orthodox mission, as crazy as it sounds, uses a metal trough for Baptisms. I would think this was purchased at a farmer's co-op. I don't know what the cost would be or if it would be possible to rent one in the event the expense is too great. Again, my prayers are with you during this most blessed and precious time in your life. God bless you.

Dear Heather,
I was going to suggest a horse trough, but Johanna already has. As she suggests, you might try a rental place. Also, if there is a lake or a deeps stream, that can be used also.
We are praying for you, and rejpicing with you.

I will also pray for you Heather. How wonderful you must feel.
I have been to an adult christening and the woman stood up in a large version of the brass christening "bowl" (I don't know it's proper name) that babies are christened in. She wasn't fully immersed and the priest poured water over her. It's something I have never forgotten.
You are very lucky.

Johanna's post about the horse trough brought back fond memories. I, and my family, were baptised in a horse trough. Afterwards, a parish member sidled up to me, and told me how Father had scared away the horses while he had pulled the trough out of the ground.
He was joking.
I think.

Congratulations on your Baptism! May God bless you and your family always. What are your childrens' Saint's Names (that we may remember them in our prayers, too)?

Dear all...
Thank you all for your prayers during this time. All went very well yesterday. What a truly awesome and incomprehensible gift that Holy Baptism really is. I am greatly humbled.
Dear George, my children will be baptised in August. Their names now are Kaylee and Noah. When they are baptised they will be Evangelia and Seraphim.
You all are in my prayers.
Your new little sister in Christ,
Photini
