Nativity fast

Hi

I wonder if people would mind discussing the Nativity Fast, which will begin soon. I have many questions about this fast: how does it relate to Lent? (how is it similar/different?). What are the reasons that we have this fast before Christmas? What are the specific rules for the fast?

Welcome to these discussion boards. Regarding your question on the Nativity Fast (begins 15/29 November, 2002 -- thus it will already have begun if you are in a new calendar jurisdiction): while it may not be the best introduction available, there is a small text which I have written on the meaning of the Nativity Fast which will, at the least, provide you with extracts from the hymnography for the fast which will begin to express its meaning.
