Dear community:
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
I had searched the archive and did not see a related post. If there is, please direct me to the proper area. Thanks.
My question has to do with a discussion with my brother the other night. He wanted to know if the pre-Communion prayer;
"I believe O Lord, and I confess that you are truly the Christ, the Son ....
Of your mystical supper, O Son of God, accept me today as a communicant...
May the communion of you Holy Mysteries...
was always a part of the liturgy? Was it just said by the priest, or was it said by the whole congregation. And if it was said by the priest only, was it an audible or inaudible prayer. Why the distinction?
He actually posed several other questions on the liturgy which I am sorry to say I didn't have the answers for him. I will try and organize the questions into some form of logical thought and post the questions.
In Christ,
John K
