Dear everyone,
I am what you might call a 'philorthodox' (i.e., am not Orthodox myself, but quite interested in the church). I know nothing about the feast of the Protecting Veil of the Theotokos, and wonder if anyone could tell me about it?
Thank you, Chris

There are details on the history behind the Feast of the Protection at the OCA's website. You can go directly there via this link:

There is a beautiful icon of the Feast of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God on the website of a Russian parish bearing the Feast's name.
The icon is found here:
http://www.pomog.org/feast2.shtml
The parish also has a page of information on the Feast, with Troparion and Kontakion. This is available at:
http://www.pomog.org/feast.shtml
(Both links open a new browser window; your place here will not be lost.)
INXC,
Matthew
