I agree with what Fr. Mark said when you asked this question over at the Euphrosynos Cafe. You might also want to check out the patristic works I posted on the priesthood in the theology section over there... . .

What is the process of becoming a Reader?
1. Contact your priest and find out what the diocesan requirements for reader are.
2. If you meet or aspire to meet the requirements, your priest would contact the bishop and make a recommendation.
3. The bishop will let you know from there what happens next.

yeah, but there is only one Monachos! Having participated in quite a few, I think it is probably one of (if not THE) best.

Alright - you hooked me!
I am exploring the Orthodox Church with an eye toward possible eventual conversion. Last week I did a Google search and discovered a lot of Orthodox discussion groups, this one included. I have posted a number of questions and responses here and feel quite comfortable here. I have found it overwhelming to try to keep-up with all of the traffic on these forums. There simply isn't enough time in a day to keep-up.
If you had to limit your discussion grougs to only three, which three would it be, and in what order??
Would you recommend these same three forums to a newbie? It seems logical that some are geared more toward the believer who is well versed in his faith, while others toward the inquirers . . .
Thanks - In Christ,

Bob..I was just Chrismated last month, from an Episcopal background. Welcome!
If I had to limit myself to 3 discussion groups they would be:
OrthodoxChristianity.net
Monachos.net
byzcath.org
The last one isn't Orthodox, it's Eastern Rite Catholic (under Rome) but enough Ortho folks post there and there are enough similiarities that I've learned alot from the dicussions there.
