Greetings,
I am moving down to the Tampa, FL area in the next four months and was hoping that I could get some advice concerning a proper english speaking Orthodox parish to attend there. I am baptised and chrismated into ROCOR but the ROCOR church in St. Pete is all slavonic and nobody really speaks any English there. I had my Priest call ahead for me so I could confess and take communtion. I attended last Sunday and - while the service and temple was beautiful - I found that none of the adults took communion. Aside from not understanding the service, I felt a little out of place there. The only advice I have received so far from my home parishioners- aside from "don't move, please stay" - is to make sure that the parish is not modernized with pews, does not focus on socializing more than worship, etc. I want to be able to find a parish where the members commune frequently and are more traditionally minded.
Does anyone have any insight to the area and my upcoming situation?
Thanks for any comments!
God Bless,
Stephen
