View Full Version : Eternal salvation: eternal damnation

Hey, this is James. I decided to go by my middle name. That's what I usually go by anyway. I have several questions on the Orthodox perspective of the after life. How can a person be saved? I aksed this question to another Orthodox person on AIM, and he said that Christ saves who He chooses and we don't really know who will be saved or damned. Then, would that mean we cannot take the Bible at it's Word? Because it seems to speak clearly of who will be saved and who will be damned. But what is the Orthodox view? What, also, is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, and how does one commit this unpardonable sin?
Thanks
&
God Bless

You may not be surprised to learn that there is a great deal of discussion on such topics that has already taken place in this forum. I might point you in particular toward a few good threads:
Death and the afterlife (http://www.monachos.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1621)
Life after death (http://www.monachos.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1618)
The state of man in Gehenna (http://www.monachos.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1627)
And various other threads in the Eschaton and the Afterlife area (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=302)
Perhaps you have specific items you want to address in this area, after reading these?
