Saint Sebastian: female equivalents?

Greetings Monachos.net,

I have another question this morning.

I am a surrealist and a visionary. When I was younger I used to draw pictures of women with arrows in them. Then I learned about the Catholic saint Sebastian. Now I am Orthodox. I am wondering if there are any female Orthodox saints like Sebastian who got martyred by being shot up with arrows?

No. They're really nothing alike at all.

St. Sebastian isn't an idea..... he's a person. There aren't versions of him.... just him.

As far as I know, St Sebastian is venerated by the Orthodox as well as the Roman Catholics. I am happy to be corrected on this.

This is indeed quite right. He is commemorated, usually as 'St Sebastian the Martyr', on 5 / 18 December. There is a nice summary of his life on the web site of the Greek Archdiocese of Australia (http://home.it.net.au/~jgrapsas/pages/St_Sebastian.htm). It includes an interesting icon:
