A friend of mine died a few days ago. He battled drug addiction on and off. I thought he was clean but I guess he went back. His house burned down, he found out he had a life threatning genetic disorder, and his grandfather was in ill health so he probably went back out of sadness and hopelessness. He injected Heroin laced with fentanyl and died almost instantly (withen 5 seconds). Please pray for the repose of his soul , his name is Tommy and for his grandmother and grandfather who survive him. I dont know if he has anyone to pray for him other then me (and I am a great sinner with little faith) , his grandparents are protestant and more then likely do not believe in prayer for the dead.
So far I know for sure that two of my friends (who I used to do drugs with) have died (all in their early 20's) and more then likely two others as well. One of my friends who died of an Overdose I had asked to come to Church with me in a week , he agreed but died before he could go.. I had also asked another friend to go with me to Church he never showed up the next day to go and I havent heard from him in months and he usually stays in contact so I'm fairly sure he is dead as well (hs grandfather died and he was in bad shape). This Fentanyl laced heroin that is going around here is dropping people left and right. I beg anyone who is reading this and has kids to talk to them about the dangers of drugs. Drug addiction is a great plauge in this country.

+ Lord Jesus Christ, lover of mankind: + You Who are the Resurrection and the Life: + In Your Kingdom, by Your great mercy, grant forgiveness of sins and a place of light, happiness and peace to Tommy, Whom You have called from this life. Most Holy Theotokos, in the compassion of your loving heart, pray that Tommy's soul may be saved. Holy Apostle Thomas, pray unto God for him. Amen.

Thank you for the prayer.
I went to his funeral today. It was hard to see him there lifeless with all those grieveing people standing over him. He was always such an upbeat and kind person despite the suffering he went through in his life (he was always having bad things happen to him). He was always looking for a friend some one who would care for him because so many people treated him bad. Of my friends who had died of overdoses this was the first one I ever went to the Funeral , the others the familys didnt invite me. Its appaling how many people are dieing everyday here in michigan because of drugs especially now that the Heroin going around is cut with fentynal which is 10xs stronger then morphine. It was a powerful experience though, it seems its only when really bad things happen that I feel any connection with God... It takes things like that to get through my hard heart I guess. I'm so glad that I've been clean for 3 1/2 years now its sick what drugs can do to you not just your body but your soul also.

I prayed the Akathist for the repose of those who have fallen asleep for him. That is such a powerful prayer.. so full of hope. It points out Gods mercy and the power of prayer for the reposed (even for those suffering in hell).
Here is a link to it if anyone wants it.
