dear fr.Mathew and brothers,
yesterday I read some letters from st.Athanasius ,
one of them was the 39th letter , it talks about the canonical scriptures accepted by the church , I did not find some of the deutrocanonical letters between the canonical books athanasius referred to.
besides, I found in the end of the letter that he advised the beginners to read the book of wisdom ( which is considered canonical and fully inspired in orthodox church ) and the book of Hermias ( the shephered)
-----------------
does that mean the deutrocanonical books were not canonized or used yet? however st.Athanasius himself used many many verses from them in his defences contra arius. how did st.Athanasius treat with deutrocanonical books which are considered apocryphs according to protestants today?
was he mistaken in his letter?
---------------
thanks in advance,
Mina Mounir
