The Peace of the Lord be with you.
I have been invited to a local men's discussion group.
Their about 3 or 4 different churches represented. All Protestant and myself, Orthodox. (The closest Orthodox church is 120 miles away.)
I've attended twice and they have been discussing a Christian Self-help book that they read and had a little discussion was given and that was all.
They have come to the end of that book and want something else to look at.
I've been ask what I think and I said that I would think about it and let them know what I've found.
They seem to be open to talking.
My first thought was Church History, then I thought maybe a short (6 to 10 week) study of the Church Fathers would be enlightening.
If any of you have been in similar situations please let me know what direction you have gone and what was the good and bad (if any) outcome?
Also What direction would you suggest and what resources would you suggest?
Thanks for the help.

Something simple and powerful, such as "How to Pray," by Theophan the Recluse. Of course, many Protestants do not believe in any set prayers but I think the beauty of this book is convincing.

I think that is a good idea Owen because most devout Protestants want to pray, want to know God better and be transformed by him, but they don't have the tools available.

I know that I would have loved to have known what I know now when I was younger and an evangelical. I grew very tired of 'Three Quick Steps to Holiness' type books when what I really needed, though I didn't know of them, were the teachings of the Fathers and Mothers on spirituality.
