Greetings,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, basic reference on Orthodox terminology? I find that as I am reading posts and encountering terms with which I am unfamiliar, by the time I do a search and find a definition and then try to ascertain if it is within the Church's understanding of the term, I seldom get back to the post!

Any help woud be appreciated.

In Christ,
Tanya

Hi,

There is the Blackwell Dictionary of Eastern Christianity (http://www.amazon.com/Blackwell-Dictionary-Eastern-Christianity/dp/0631232036/sr=1-1/qid=1163089133/ref=sr_1_1/102-1535247-8336107?ie=UTF8&s=books) which is quite good as a basic reference tool.

In addition to specifically Orthodox glosses, I also use Google's "definition" feature. In the google window simply type "define: <your word>" and hit enter. Google accesses a variety of online dictionary sources and seems to do okay with many of the Orthodox terms I've needed a quick reference on.
