View Full Version : Seeming neglect of St Peter of Damascus in modern writings

It is odd to me that amidst all of the books, articles, and essays on spiritual life I have read or glanced through I have rarely come across focused treatment of St Peter of Damascus. With the Fathers of the Philokalia being quite en vogue in recent decades among the scholars and "theologians" in the Church I would have thought there would be something or two written about this great spiritual writer, especially since his writings take up the second most amount of space in the Philokalia.

Has anyone out there encountered otherwise? Or has anyone an idea of why this absence of material exists?

Thank you,
Bratislav

It seems to me, my friends, that this neglect reaches even to the esteemable Monachos Discussion Board. I suppose my question has been answered.

Many thanks.

Hello Bratislav!

I would've loved to give you an answer, except that my mind is so small that I didn't even understand your question!

For starters, I haven't even met St Peter of Damascus yet, so I don't even know if the treatment he's received is focused or not.

I hope you find what you're looking for =)
