Would someone be able to tell me why there are some icons that have drawn God in icons? No one has seen God so why draw Him on icons? I know it the Holy Trinity Jesus, God and a dove.
Also I don't agree with the icon that has Jesus stepping on a cross. The one that Jesus takes Adam & Eve out of hades. Can anyone who knows tell me.
Thankyou
God Bless

That is not a cross in the icon of the Resurrection. According to our Tradition those are the doors of Hades, that Christ overthrew to release all the righteous people, who were in Hades. The doors are depicted in the shape of the Cross because by the power of Cross, Christ conquered and defeated Hades. Christ is standing above them to show the victory over death and Hades that was swallowing up without discrimination all people since Adam and Eve.

Actually this topic has been addressed in several previous threads, like the Venerating Icons Thread (http://www.monachos.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3580&highlight=icon+god+father) for example.

Well, actually, our Lord is NOT "stepping on a cross", He is "trampling the Gates of Hell", which are fallen in the SHAPE of a cross. Christ has conquered the implement of death (the Cross), and has overthrown the kingdom of death (the gates of Hell). What, exactly, is it that you do not agree with in what is probably the most common icon of Holy Pascha?
