I have seen various geometric art on walls in churches,
and I was wondering if there is any tradition regarding
these?

There is one that is a circle with a cross made of four
loops in it, which would seem to point to Christ ruling
the world or the world belong to Christ, I guess. This
is a bit like the general symbol of the circle with an
equal armed cross in it, the world and its four quarters.

But when this circle with four loops making a cross is
topped or sided or above - the repetitiousness of the
pattern makes it hard to clarify this - by a crescent
like symbol, what does this mean?

Also patterns of either reddish or bluish squares, not the
tiles in a mosaic but itself a repeating mosaic, is this just
a sort of place holder or color adding device, or is it
supposed to mean something?
