Hi, I am very knew to this forum and to orthodoxy so please excuse me in advance.

My question concerns the meaning of Christ's miracles as recorded in the bible. I like to find out the meaning of them as I am sure they are symbolic of deeper truths but at the moment I can't get past the surface of them. Why did Jesus make these wonderful miracles as it can't have been to prove his divinity? I'd better very grateful for some points to reflect on so I can gain a better understanding.

Many thanks

Andrew

All of His miracles are because of His great love for man. He does all things out of Love, because He is Love.

Welcome Andrew,

God bless you. I think a great source in your search for understading would be located on this site. http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf114.toc.html

Here, St. John Chrystostom takes the listener through the entire Gospel of John, speaking homilies on the events within. A truly blessed piece of work, from a truly blessed Saint in Christ.

PS: as for the second Andrew, your explanation just about sums it up!
