View Full Version : How do I contribute financially to Monachos.net other than PayPal?

Dear Matthew,

After just reading Father Raphael's post in the HoS thread, which takes us to the next level in a most helpful way, I give up[!] and have decided to pry open my wallet and become a contributing member here.

I am no stranger to either a seminary or a library; but, I must say there is a dynamic at work here in this place that is unique, one of a kind, in terms of the collection/background of people that come together, to sit around the table, to discuss an historic Orthodox Christianity . . . and, in this sense, is without parallel as far as I know.

But, I am wondering if there is any other option other than using PayPal? I will spare you the reason why I am asking this question. If this is really what is best, at the present, then that will be fine. But, I am wondering if there is another option.

In Christ,
Rick

PS I just opened my wallet and moths flew out. But, I have a stack of magazines here on the floor that I subscribe to. It occurs to me that since I have found Monachos.net, I am not reading some of these very much, or at all. Hmm . . .

Well I use PayPal without a problem so far, but there appear to be other non-Paypal options as well.

Herman--I used PayPal for a long time without a problem too, and I thought they were pretty slick. But, the one time that I did have too much taken out of my checking, it turned into a real nightmare--Rick

I just wanted to second Rick's comments on Paypal. I always take the 'other option' when I am purchasing/contributing too. Although it's been over a year since my bad experience with paypal and canceling my account, I still receive fake emails from hackers representing Paypal. While I have sympathy for the genuine folks at Paypal, I think they continue to deal with insecurities in their system.

Dear All,

I just took another look at PayPal and found a way around my previous problem.

In order to avoid having them work with one's checking account, as I was . . . one can simply enter a credit card number and make a payment this way. I feel better about using a credit card, and to be honest it feels kind of good to support Monachos.net and those who work so hard to keep it up and running smoothly.

For those who value this website, let's say 'Thanks!' in a way other than just with lip service.

Now I have this strange urge to recycle something, I hear that is supposed to feel good too! :)

In Christ,
Rick

PS And, I tell you what . . . as an added incentive for all those who sign up today, Father Raphael will personally buy you a cup of coffee at the Mondragon Bookstore and Coffeehouse! And, if the Mondragon doesn't sound too good then I'm sure there is somewhere else that sells coffee in Winnepeg. (travel expense and air fare not included. your mileage may vary. offer good only on certain days and with restrictions not previously stated.)
