Hey all.
I am trying to get together resources on an Orthodox reading of Romans, specifically the issues that come up about election in Romans 9. I am in discussion with Reformed constantly, so I am wanting suggestions for good commentaries.
I am going to do my own study on it and consult the Fathers (to the best of my ability) and then hopefully turn to some other sources. Maybe N.T. Wright's commentary? any other suggestions?

thanks!

St. John Chrysostom wrote 32 homilies on the Epistle to the Romans, walking through it literally verse-by-verse. All of them can be found online at the New Advent site at:

I have also read that Maximos the Confessor had some things to say regarding election, but could not find any specific references, except possibly a hint that they might be in his texts on "Theology and the Incarnate Dispensation of the Son of God" (I'm not sure, though; I'm still on his texts on love and haven't read that far yet).

Dear Maximus, you wrote:

Michael has already mentioned some extensive patristic homilies by St John; but perhaps you have some specific questions about the text and its issues that interest you? It's easier to comment on specific themes / questions, to get things rolling.
