I was wondering if King Josiah of Judah is venerated as a saint (or the OT equivalent). It seems that he should be, given his place in the genealogy of Matthew and his righteousness as described in 1 Kings 23:25 -
Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.
But I've only found one icon of him, and that a quite recent one; I haven't found him in any lists of saints or name-days; and I haven't run across any commemoration day for him (except possibly the Sunday of the Holy Forefathers, but he isn't on the icon for that). I have seen mention of a handful of Orthodox priests named Josiah, though. Anyone know for sure?
In Christ,
Mike
