Greetings everyone!

Ok, so last week I was unable to confess since my poor daughter was in the hospital and I couldn't leave her.

I emailed my parish priest and he told me to come in today. Well, an emergency arised and he was unable to help me today. I have to recieve communion tomorrow since it is my last chance before I have major surgery on Nov 5th. What should I do? Just not receive? I would be devastated.

Any advice?

Marianthy

Talk to your priest again. Maybe you can receive, and then he can confess you after Liturgy. Or maybe you can come early to Liturgy and confess.

Simply contact your parish priest, explain the situation to him and ask for permission to receive communion.

He might be willing to do it during Orthros. Mine does.

There is a good length of time during the Praises.

Possibly the Canon is meant? In normal practice during Vigil, especially where the parish has only one priest (as is often the case here in the west) the priest will come out during the canon to hear the people's confessions. This is because the canon takes quite a lot of time to read and during that time the priest only has the three small litanies to attend to.

Alternatively though in Russia I saw priests hearing confessions throughout the entire Vigil. But this is because they have so many priests per parish compared to us here in the west. One priest would serve, the rest can hear confessions.

You are of course correct Father Raphael. I was trying to remember my cheat sheets I use during services. I still get the "Church" words mixed up. prosphora V proskomedia V antidoron. and all the others.
