Wow the new features are so cool!

I really love the background when composing text. It feels like writing a classic letter.

That's a feature? Whew - I thought Internet Explorer got messed up somehow. :)

Seriously, it does look cool.

Giggles ... At first because there were not the usual boxes for logging in I thought I was banned from monachos (Giggles) and the other alternative I thought was: a problem with the system.

But this cool background we write on now is so nice! :)

Dear all,

There is a bit of testing of layout going on, as you can tell. Feedback is gratefully received: everything is very much in the 'we'll see how it looks, then make a decision' stage.

Please note that as we test, things may look a little quirky at times. For example, testing today has produced a rather nice editor screen when replying to posts -- but that has had a carryover effect of making the compose a new Private Message screen look a bit unwieldly. This is because of interlaced templates, etc.

We're mainly curious to see what looks nice, feels good, and people enjoy. When that's discovered, steps will be taken to tidy up all effected areas.

Best,

INXC, Dcn Matthew

You think you've got problems? I thought at first that somebody had hacked into my machine and done something to the windowing system.

But now that I'm getting used to it, I like it.

Dear all,

Just a word to say that the layout designing taking place at the moment - especially centred around the Reply and Create New Thread editor screens - currently displays better on IE7 than Firefox. There is a slight quirk with the way Firefox interprets the formatting code, which is causing single-line text entry fields (like the logging in fields, subject lines, etc.) to appear almost invisible. Rest assured: they are still there, and you can still click and enter data. We're trying to sort out why they don't yet display the nice shaded underlining visible in IE7.

As before, the Compose New Private Message interface looks a bit unweildly at the moment. This will be seen to soon.

This is also particularly noticeable in Netscape.

Thank you for that note, Anthony. This is because the web browser that powers Netscape is the same as that that powers Firefox.

Thank you, Fr Matthew. I had forgotten that. :o

Not to be a stick in the mud, but I don't care for the blue field. I can't see any boundary lines. I need my little box. I need my boundaries. Don't make me thing outside the box. It's scary out there.

I agree. I like the boxes. Helps me see better. =)

Just a reminder of my above post; namely, that this issue of the borders not displaying is a fault / bug in Mozilla-based browsers, which we're working to fix. It's not intended as the final state of things!

I use IE 7 not Mozilla if this matters.

If you're able to send a screen-shot of how the display looks on your system, I'd be grateful.

I gotta agree about needing "little boxes" (which is odd because I am known as an "outside the box" kind of person). OTOH, I did come across a temp fix by switching my editor mode to "full WYSIWIG". I have a little box for composing. Some of the other boxes still aren't there, but this is better than nothing.

I think the matter of borders around data-entry fields / boxes in the interface has now been corrected.

I am using Firefox now, and it is working very nicely. Thank you, Fr Matthew, for your hard work.

I will report back on Netscape later, but I assume that too will be OK.

If this post shows up, then it works OK in Netscape as well. :)
