So far as I can see, the Monachos library does not have the all the texts of the canons of all the Ecumenical and other important Councils. Would it be possible to have these? I was looking for the 1st Ecumenical Council.

CCEL has a copy of The Seven Ecumenical Councils (http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf214.html) online. If you just want the canons from the first council, they start at this page (http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf214.vii.vi.html).

Thanks, Mike. What I'm confused about is what is the 'First-Second Council'?

Don't think I've ever heard of the 'First-Second Council' -- where'd you hear about it?

If you go here (http://www.holytrinitymission.org/index.php) and click Textbooks, then click Canonical Law, it has all the Canons you are looking for or The Rudder or Pedalion as it is called by Orthodox I believe. First-Second Council can be found under the "Canons of the Local Councils." The whole Rudder is also available as one very lengthy PDF here (http://s3.amazonaws.com/orthodox/The_Rudder.pdf). It might take a little while to download no matter what connection speed you have. And is also lacking an introduction. But it has plenty of footnotes. Hope this helps.

The first-second council was a council held under St Photios in 861 a.d. and called by the emperor. It reaffirmed the 7th Ecumenical Council against iconoclasm, and recognized St Photius as the rightful bishop of Constantinople. Legates of Pope Nicholas were also present Seventeen canons were passed at this council. Together with another council held in 869 a.d. became known as the council of the First and Second.

The complete Pedalion, or Rudder, is now available online, as translated by D. Cummings.

Be aware, its a massive download - 227.3MB.

Does anyone have the complete acts, synodal letter and canons if the 879 photian union council. The socalled eighth ecumenical one? Iknow that some sessions are available online, but I need the whole of it.

There is a translation of the Definition/Horos of the First-Second/Constantinople IV Council:
http://www.geocities.com/trvalentine/orthodox/dragas_eighth.html
There Fr. Dagan-Dragas states that it is the first translation he has seen. The article has excerpts from the Acts of the Council, so I get the impression that no translation of all the acts exist.
As a side note, the Creed that the Copts and the Syriacs IIRC is the same as the one that the EO use, but the Armenian differs somewhat.

I wonder if this difference was ever commented on, as was the filioque. Since the differences are, unlike the filioque, Orthodox I don't think it matters.
I have links for the Synod of Jerusalem, if anyone is interested.
