I'm trying to remember the source for the bits of a story that I am trying to remember but I am probably misremembering:

A monk prays for a vision of what the spiritual warfare is like. This prayer is granted. Outside of a town he sees a demon, sitting on a wall, looking bored, swinging his legs. He sees a single monk who is being attacked by a million demons. An Angel(?) explains to the monk that the town is so evil that a single demon hardly has anything to do, but a monk draws many, many foes who try to bring about his downfall.

If anyone can cite the source for this story or tell the complete version, I will be in your debt.

That's beautiful! But I never have read this before. Or maybe I did but I forgot.
