Why are we challenged twice to think of what's profitable for us?

"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?" (James 2:14)

"If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?" (James 2:15-16)
The etymology of the English word "to profit" points us to the verb "to advance."

Lest our souls perish we must do what is only profitable to the soul!

The Greek word ophelos, the word translated as profit in this Epistle, also means benefit or advantage. It is interesting to note that in passages translated as unprofitable servant, the Greek word used is akhreios, which means vile or filthy. Quite a different notion to unprofitable, which suggests laziness or uselessness, "good for nothing", if you like.

Perhaps this difference might be the similarity of akhreios (vile) with akhristos (useless). Just a guess.
