Dear all,
Some time has been spent today, re-organizing the Ecclesiology and the Church Area (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4), to make its contents clearer and provide dedicated areas for some topics that have grown in discussion since the area was first created and organized some years ago.
The area is now organized into six sub-sections, as follows:
Ecclesiology and the Church (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4)
The nature of the Church (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=371) - Discussion of the nature and identity of the Church, including questions of unity and division in theological and ecclesiological terms (but not in terms of specific divisions , as there is another area for this, below).
Hierarchy, clergy, rulers and administration (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=360) - The hierarchical form, clerical offices, organisation and administration of the Orthodox Church, including Orthodox rulers (kings, emperors, etc). Includes threads on various clerical roles and their functions (but not practical affairs, e.g. 'How to greet a priest?', which go in the existing Practical Life in the Church area).
Church councils and canons (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=370) - The history, deliberations, canons and other materials relating directly to the councils of the Church, both ecumenical and local.
Evangelism and mission (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=361) - Orthodoxy's approach to missionary activity and authentically evangelical life.
Localities, jurisdictions and calendars (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=363) - The relationship of individual local Churches and jurisdictions, as well as calendar issues and associated topics. This area includes any and all threads that deal with locale / region / nation specific discussions.
Orthodox ecclesiology in relation to other churches (http://www.monachos.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=362) - The relationship of Orthodox ecclesiology to that of other churches, in terms of structure, doctrine and history (rather than mission, which has its own area); including all discussions on ecumenism. However, this is primarily in the scope of [I]historical interactions and ecclesiological issues, rather than modern issues, as the Discussion Community does not focus on present-day inter-Church relations. Threads and posts in this area are always moderated, in order to help keep them on topic. I trust this new organisation will help make more sense of the themes in the area, and reflect the variety and scope of discussions that have been and continue to be carried out within it.
As a practical note: this new organisation has involved moving a great number of threads - from this area and from other parts of the forum - into their new, more appropriate locations in this re-organized area. As such, frequent readers may notice that some threads no longer appear in places where you last saw / expect them. Please rest assured that the forum search feature (http://www.monachos.net/forum/search.php) will quickly connect you to any thread that you can't locate. Some additional movement of threads will take place in the days ahead, as we continue to locate threads in other parts of the forum that can be moved to the clearer sub-sections of the Ecclesiology and the Church area.
