Dear all,

The Discussion Community Handbook (http://www.monachos.net/forum/faq.php), always available in the toolbar at the top of forum pages, has been thoroughly updated, to take into account the great number of new features introduced over the past three months. Many of these new features are not immediately obvious, so regular members might not be aware of them. The newly-updated Handbook gives full information on all the new features, as well as information on all aspects of the forum's operation and usage.

To assist in locating new features and materials, entries in the Handbook that relate to newly-added features are prefaced with a plus-sign (+) on the main Handbook contents listing (http://www.monachos.net/forum/faq.php).

Do take a moment to browse the document, and learn about many new and updated features, such as:

Picture albums - including uploading, organising, choosing covers, and sharing
Picture comments - the ability to leave comments on pictures in members' albums
Thread tools - including printable versions, send-to-a-friend, etc.
Thread prefixes - New features (forthcoming) for organising thread content
Thread 'tags' - A new feature for linking related content across threads
New profile configuration and display options - Information on profile interface introduced a few months ago, with tabbed interfaces and content blocks
Profile design customization - A feature being introduced soon, allowing customization of the style and layout of your profile
Avatar customization - Selecting between stock avatar and your own custom avatar images, and information on how these are (and aren't) used in the forum
Configuring your title - Customise how your title (Fr, Mr, Miss, etc.) displays in your profile and on posts
My Notifications - a new alerts system to inform you of new Private Messages, picture comments, social group messages, etc.
Thread and forum subscriptions - including the ability to receive e-mail notifications of new posts and thread activity
Visitor Messages and new means of communicating with members
Friends and contacts - including establishing friend relationships and sharing contact details
Social Groups - a new feature for social networking, allowing the creation of groups of members with similar interests, to share comments and pictures
The new forum toolbar - with quick access to common features
New search features - including the ability to search by thread tags
Dealing with problem members - including an ability to ignore PMs, posts, etc.
RSS and podcasting - including the ability to keep up with thread activity through RSS 'feed' readers, as well as share audio material through podcasting (forthcoming).

Those are a few of the new features, added over the past three months (some in the past few weeks; some currently being unrolled), now described in the Handbook.
