I tried to see if there was a transliterated Syriac translation of a bible verse (e.g. 1 Cor 15:20) where 'Christ' and 'risen' occur, but could only find the actual Syriac in its original script - not very helpful if you can not read Syriac!
The web site I looked at for Syriac translations is
http://www.tyndalehouse.co.uk/links_Biblical.htm#anchorOriginal
which has some very helpful Bible stuff on it.

Dear Angela, Christ is Risen!
Please see if the following answers your question.
Syriac: Meshiha qam! Bashrira qam!
Please read the following explanatory paragraph:
Some inside, as well as outside, the Oriental Orthodox community have wrongly associated the name "Assyrian Orthodox Church" with the "Assyrian Church of the East," sometimes referred to as the Nestorian Church.
The Assyrian Orthodox Church is an older name (in the English language) for the Syriac Orthodox Church.
The Armenian Apostolic Church still refers to the Syriac Orthodox as the Assyrian Orthodox.

Thankyou Richard and James.
I will try it out, and if I get some funny looks, I will know it's not the right one! :)
