View Full Version : New quote format?

Did the format for quoting change? Instead of the traditional grey quote box, I'm getting these huge double-quote marks off to the left, and it looks horrible. Is there a setting I need to tweak to get the old style back?

We're always testing new 'tweaks' to the system and the layout of the Discussion Community, and this is one of the things being trialled at the moment.

I think I like the old way better, more clear; but, maybe it is just a matter of what we get used to.

Thanks for constantly trying to improve our experience.

I like the new way. It brings out the quote as such and has an appealing "new" look to the forum.

Thanks to many for the feedback (with much additional coming in via PM!). As I say, this is something in testing. We'll see how it goes, tweak it as we go along, etc.

One of the ongoing goals of the design is to have it less 'boxy' -- i.e. with as few next tables as possible, as it gives a lighter and less 'net-ish feel.

That sounds good to have it be less 'boxy.' Possibly, a darker blue color would make it easier to read. Maybe it's just me but it seems this light blue color requires much more effort to read.

Thanks again,
Rick

Easily done! I've had the quotation colour changed to a darker shade of blue for testing. You should see it already in the above (though you may have to force your browser to re-load its cache in order for the change to take effect; do a full-cache re-load of the page: CTRL+SHIFT+R in Firefox, or CTRL+F5 in Internet Explorer).

One concern is that links in the forum are a dark blue, so there may be some confusion as to links in quoted text: they may be difficult to see. We'll have to test and see how things go.

XB, Dcn MatthewCan the links be made lighter blue perhaps?

Dear in the Lord, James, you wrote:

Yes, this may well be a solution. I've asked that later today some testing be done with links within quotes - to change their colour so that they stand out in quoted text. We'll see how it goes.

Many thanks for the thought. It sounds promising.
