Don't know if all noticed it, but the last six days Monachos was not available. And it made me get aware how much I love this place! Finally today it is back on track and I am so happy and grateful for this.

Don't know where this was about and why this happened but I know it was shocking enough for me, so I will find a way to support this ministery and hope that such never happens again.

I definitely noticed and was quite stressed about it. Just so relieved to see it back. Phew! Glory to God.

Me too. First thing I did every morning when I turned on my computer was to check Monachos. I was becoming afraid that the problem was permanent. Never knew I was so attached to this forum:)

I felt exactly the same way. I was probably trying to connect three or four times a day to see if it was back yet. I was getting worried enough to contact the secretary at his parish to try to find out what was up :o.

I did notice the "why", which was that the domain name registration for monachos.net expired at the end of July, and after a few days' grace period the site was blocked until the registration was renewed. Apparently Matthew was away for a while and didn't notice what had happened; I guess he must have just returned and straightened things out. I had the same thing happen to me once with my site, even though I had set up for auto-billing to avoid it (bad timing met forgetfulness).

Dear friends,

With thanks for the concern shown over the outage of the site. I was away for the past two weeks, and this incident proves the point that matters of site collapse always occur when I am away and unable to do anything about them.

But all should be back in order now.

I was wondering what addiction I was going to have to start to replace this one. It also gave me insight into my dependence on this place. I have spent a great deal of time in my OSB.

As far as I know, there is nothing quite like this forum anywhere else on the web.

Dear all,

I noticed the absence, and I was equally shocked by it. This website has been very important to me as a source of community, knowledge and support. The general question came to my mind, and I wonder if our moderator has any thoughts on this - what can we do with deceased websites?! I'm pretty hopeful this site will go to a good place when it dies :), but will there be no way of accessing its data, no storage of any sort?

Perhaps a book with the best threads? 'Top 50 Monachos.net Postings', a catchy title.

I had just joined about a week before Monachos became "unavailable" and I thought I had been banned. :o

How would an ancient Roman town survive without its own real forum (market place, where ideas and everything were exchanged)!! I missed this place too!!

I propose three cheers to the Monachian Moderators!
