Can anyone give me the correct places for both the troparia and kontakias in the Typika. One order that i have been given has both the troparia and the Kontakia following one after the other and before the liturgy of the Word whilst another has the Troparia coming before the liturgy of the Word and the Kontakia coming later on after the Creed.
Thanking whomever can help.

In the typica, the troparia come before the reading of the epistle and Gospel and the kontakia are chanted later. You can see this in the horologion here (http://www.saintjonah.org/services/typica.htm)

James,
You may also find, this (http://www.monachos.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4973&highlight=michael+astley) thread helpful. I had exactly the same questions as you recently and was puzzled by conflicting information. The good people at monachos.net were able to help.

Note though that the Typika as printed in the books (the Book of Hours, horologion, chasoslov) is quite different from this. For example it goes from the Beatitudes straightway to "Remember us O Lord when Thou comest into Thy kingdom..."
In the Typika as found in the service books no the tropars are called for ( only the kondaks for the day are done) nor would there be Holy God, Prokeimenon, Epistle or Gospel readings. Also the service (except for the Beatitudes on weekdays of Great Lent) would be read and not sung.
In essence then what you have here is a basic rearrangment of the Typika to act literally as a replacement for the Liturgy. In such a situation there would be no problem using it as such. But if the Typika is called for in the ustav (eg on eves of Great feasts such as Nativity or Theophany when it is done after the Royal Hours and before the Vesperal Liturgy of St Basil) then it should be done in the simple way as prescribed in the service books.

I would like to thank Fr Charles and Fr Raphael and everyone else for helping me.
I now understand some of the complexities in the use of the Typika
May God be with you all
