I came across this, can any body explain what this "monastic" community New Skete is?
Married Monastics? Icon's of Heretics and Schismatics in the Church? what is going on here?

New Skete is a stavropegial monastery in the OCA which means it is under the direct authority of the Metropolitan, not the local bishop. I suspect it has been operating pretty much "under the radar" with some of its more controversial practices. The OCA as an organization has had some rather large distractions up to this point. I can only imagine that the former abbot of St. John the Wonderworker Monastery will eventually get around to "regularlizing" the practices of the monasteries under his omophorion, once the higher priorities he has are dealt with.

Seeing wall paintings of notorious freemasons such as Patriarch Athenagoras and Pope Paul VI, the sooner some discipline and rectitude are imposed the better!

New Skete was started by a group of monastics that left the Catholic church and joined the Orthodox in the 1960's. They were allowed to keep some of their western traditions, from what I understand. Their icons are questionable since they depict people who are not recognized by the Orthodox church as Saints, although to be honest I've seen worse!
