I was wondering. Is there a monastery or group of monasteries for women which hold such a significance as the ones in Mt. Athos, producing many holy women over the centuries? I ask this just out of curiosity really, so to be able to tell people where women could pilgrim to have a similar experience as visiting Mt. Athos.

Ormylia, perhaps?

Monastery of the Archangel Michael in Thassos, Greece. It is a dependency of the Monastery of Philotheou ( Mount Athos).

Whilst there are many women's monasteries in the world - Saydnaya monastery near Damascus comes particularly to mind - I don't think there are any that have the same resonance for Orthodox Christians as the Holy Mountain. As Rdr Andreas has said, though, Ormylia has a similar feel to the Holy Mountain as it is a dependency of Simonopetra.

Diveyevo has produced many female saints, and was visited by the Mother of God.
