I need prayers for my brother's baby. Her name is Alexia and she has been diagnosed with a small hole in her heart. The pediatrician at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne told my brother and his wife that her heart might heal itself and that she will be monitored for the next 3 months.
Please pray for this baby and for its parents.
Thank you very much.

Prayers to St. Nektarios for his intercessions on behalf of your precious little niece, Alexia...
Please, if your brother and his wife have some holy oil of the saint, let them annoint her each day in faith and prayer with it.
With love in Christ,
Alice

Thank you Aliki.
I don't think that they would have such a thing. I'm not sure though. When things like this occur, the hardest part seems to be being so far away. I tried telephoning an hour ago - they had an appointment with a specialist today - but there was no answer.
Thanks again Aliki.
Lots of love

I will light a candle for baby Alexia and her parents today.
May God, our Great Physician, enfold her in His healing hands.

Let me know if you would like me to send a q-tip with some through the mail to them...I don't know how long the mail takes from New York (where I am now) to Australia.

Thank you so much for your kind offer Angela.
I spoke to my brother this morning and he told me that he is full of hope after speaking to the specialist yesterday.
Apparently what Alexia has usually heals itself in the first 3 months of the baby's life and this is what will happen. She will have tests done when this time period is over. The doctor told them that "there was nothing to worry about".
Thank you God.
My mother has some oil from the lamp in front of the Portaitissa's icon in the Eviron monastery, but I forgot to ask whether they had annointed the baby with it.
Thank you all so much for your kind concern. The outpouring of love and especially the generous offers both from the people on this thread and from those who sent me personal messages is overwhelming. This forum is a blessing to us all.

Wow! I haven't been here and I am surprised to read this. I remember when you asked for prayers about them Effie. Thank God for their baby and thank God that the condition is not serious. May God, Panaghia and all the Saints be with baby Alexa and her parents. :)

Thank you Nina.
Yes, the parents went through a lot before they finally married but they did the right thing and they now have their little baby. My brother is completely in love with this precious soul. I am expecting photos and a video this week. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to this.
Thanks again Nina for your kind wishes.

Once again I have forgotten how to start a new thread................... So I am using this thread for a new request.
My husband needs your prayers. He had a cat scan done today and the results will be out tomorrow. Please pray for his good health. He is a very strong person and I am not really worried but I do need your prayers - God's will be done.
Thank you.

I am praying for him - and you.
It took me forever to work out how to start a thread the one time I did and now I have forgotten too.

Thank you for your prayers.
The technician at the diagnostic centre gave him the results of the cat scan at 1 p.m. but he has to wait until tomorrow morning to take the scan and the typed conclusions to his doctor.
The technician told him that there was nothing seriously wrong with him. I'm sure the doctor will say the same thing tomorrow.
Thank you again.

I need your prayers once again for my baby niece, Alexia.
My brother and his wife had a doctor's appointment yesterday to check on the condition of the baby's heart.
She is now 6 months. Unfortunately nothing has changed, but the good news is that she is eating well and growing properly and these are good signs.
If the problem has not cleared up by the time she is about 12 months, the doctors will then decide what needs to be done.
Please pray for this little baby girl.
She is so beautiful, like a little angel. The image of my brother when he was a baby. (he is 14 years younger than me - a gift from heaven). I am so worried. I was sure that there would have been some improvement by now.
But the doctor is optimistic and we are clinging to the hope he is giving us. A friend's grand-daughter had the same problem and when she was examined at the age of 1 year it had cleared up by itself. This is what the specialist told my brother and his wife usually happens with this problem.
A couple of days ago, we celebrated the feast day of St. Damien and St. Cosmas. The "unsilvered". Doctors who tended patients and received no money (no silver). May these saints help this baby.
God's will be done.

Dear Effie,
Of course you can be sure that I will pray on for your little niece.
And I am not sure if this is a help but such anomaly is quite "normal", and often occurs on new born. It also is by now nothing where a child is dying on because of the good surgery on this field.
But I would recommend the parents to see also another doctor for another opinion on the situation!
In Christ, Nicolaj

May our merciful Lord bring complete healing to precious Alexia. Through the intercessions of St. Nektarios and our Panaghia, I pray for the child and her parents.
Kyrie Eleison!

Nicolaj, their pediatrician sent them to a specialist when the baby was first diagnosed. Of course, another opinion is not a bad idea.
Thank you.

Dear Effie,
Praying for little Alexia and her family. May Panaghia shelter her with Her veil.
God will provide in everything, as He took care of her and her close ones in the very beginning of her life, if I remember correctly how you shared those times with us.

Thank you Anna. I forgot that all children are protected by our Panaghia. Thank you for reminding me. I sent her a small medallion of our Panaghia and the Christ child when she was born. Her mother immediately put it on her pillow next to her tiny head. How could I have forgotten our Panaghia and Her love. thank you.
Effie
Effie, try to not worry yourself and also try to give encouragement to the parents also when you communicate. We never know what God does in 6 months. By worrying we just exhaust ourselves. I do this a lot too now that I am pregnant. May God, Panaghia and all the Saints help baby Alexa and all of you.

Worry is draining and can be unhealthy...yet, 'Worry' is also my middle name! *wink*
The more loved ones we have (nieces, nephews, siblings, parents, children), the more our worries!!
I think that atleast one positive thing can come out of worry...if worry brings one to their knees in prayer, and if the vulnerability which accompanies worry brings one a greater sense of humility, it can become a source of great grace..in clinging to the Lord and depending on Him in all things, or in some things, we become much closer to Him.
'The son of man has no place to lay His head'--in other words, do not depend on the security of worldly things, but depend only on God. Worrisome situations force us to do this.
